The new items added to the Bonefish menu are great! I ordered a spicy tuna bowl (premium sushi grade, sesame-seared rare, avocado, sweet chile sauce, jasmine rice, and passion fruit salsa), and my S/O ordered the rib eye steak with the creamy mushroom and bacon sauce, which came with a side of a fresh seasonal vegetable and your choice of a side (he opted for the garlic whipped potatoes). Bread and herb pesto were complimentary. My S/O loved his dish (I didn't taste it, so I can't give my opinion on it). My spicy tuna bowl was delicious. I felt like there wasn't that much tuna, which was a bit disappointing, but the great quality of the food made up for it. Shredded carrots and green onions are served with it also (but it wasn't mentioned on the menu). Sweet chili sauce is your typical "Mae Ploy" brand sweet chili sauce. The passion fruit salsa was actually really good! I thought it would be a bit weird, but it was a good contrast to the spicy chili sauce with the tuna! Overall the food was delicious and I highly recommend.

Love the bang bang shrimp, pot stickers, dirty martini's... And pretty much everything here. Never had a bad meal. 4 stars because the bartenders are always having a dumb personal conversation that I'd rather not hear.

The highlight here is the seafood. Very fresh and done just right! best value: Tuesday lobster special! must try: any of the seafood there, both in terms of the taste and freshness service: very cozy and friendly, one of the servers can even speak some Chinese!

Ok sockeye salmon was great. Add a spinach blue cheese sauce. Fantastic. For a "chain" food great and good service. One suggestion it Halibut season!!!

I really, really wish I could've given this restaurant 4 or 5 stars and it certainly had the potential, but service was it's biggest downfall. Bonefish has been in West Des Moines for a while where this type of issue shouldn't be a problem. If they were short-staffed or had new trainees, it definitely would've been more understanding if they were honest about it, but that was not the case today. We were a party of 7 going to Bonefish Grill for the first time for a special milestone birthday. They even asked if it was for a special occasion when we made our reservations by phone. However, nothing special really happened during this lunch except for disappointing service and long wait times. We were seated quickly, but it probably took 15+ minutes for all of us to get water and even longer and more confirmations for our requested beverages to arrive. The food and menu were delicious, but many of our entrees arrived at just room temperature. Bonefish has the potential to really shine, but this type of service when the dining room isn't even half full is just difficult to understand or believe. Service was scattered and disappointing. Let's get it together, Bonefish Grill!

ATTEMPTED to celebrate my brother's birthday here. Our whole party hadn't even arrived before they cut the entire table off from ordering any alcohol. Saying it was for the "safety of the restaurant" & to keep everything "under control". Waaaait? Whaaaat!? It completely threw everyone off guard. If you have ever been there you would know the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet and there was nothing "out of control" about our table or any other table. I usually do not pull this card but it was racism at its finest, stereotypical assumptions that our table would eventually become "out of control". I've worked at numerous restaurants, enough to know that you cut off guests not an entire table of people who have not even ordered drinks yet. Smh. Horrible customer service. We did leave the waitress a $100 tip though because it was not her fault the general manager was a racist bastard! Sorry but not sorry. The GM did attempt to cover his tracks by offering to provide us our first round of shots at the bar down the street. Weird, since the whole ordeal was supposedly for our safety ...Won't be coming back here. #neithershouldyou #thisplaceiseverythingwrongwiththeworldin2015 #itsseriouslysad #theyneedtobeputoutofbusiness #immediately #wedontwanttheminourneighborhood #promotinghate #therewerekidswithus #andtheytriedtosendustoabar #smh #horriblepeople

The seafood offerings were too good to be true. I should know better than to order shrimp, crab or lobster in a chain restaurant in the midwest, unless they pride themselves on their delivery of fresh product, but I keep getting my hopes up. Service here is good, the lighting and arrangements make for a good experience, but don't count on good seafood. It was dry and did not have much taste. I think they would do better with steak.

When you can get Chilean Sea Bass and Alaskan Halibut perfectly cooked in Des Moines... it is five stars, baby! When you can get Bang Bang Shrimp for $5 on Wednesday nights, it is five stars, baby! When you can get Chimichurri sauce it gets even better. When you can get healthy sides of vegetables instead of starch after starch, it is five stars, baby! Five stars... Bonefish may be my favorite franchise restaurant.

Ate here last night around 10 p.m. I like the fact that it's open late. Most dishes are priced in the mid-teens to twenty dollar range, with appetizers around ten bucks. We all really enjoyed our dishes; however, my boyfriend was a little disappointed with the serving size. The bang bang shrimp appetizer was flavorful and had a crunch that I liked. The complimentary bread was great. I had the lobster thermidor special while my boyfriend had the wolf fish with spinach. Our friend ordered the longfin tilapia and really liked it, but I didn't try any of his so I can't vouch for it. My lobster thermidor had two meaty claws of lobster with my mahi mahi. I liked my dish, but I actually really liked my boyfriend's wolf fish compared to my mahi mahi. The former had a lighter, buttery flavor. I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to cooked fish, but our fish was done perfectly - flaky and juicy. The only thing that I didn't like was that all of our dishes came with a generous helping of diced carrots. I hate carrots, but that's a personal preference. Our server was great and checked up on us often. The dining room was dimmed with candles at each table. It'd be a nice place to have a dinner date. I was surprised to find out that it was a chain. It's a shame that they don't have any California locations.

I'm from Florida and I love seafood and even though this is a chain I give this place 5 stars because its one of the only places in Iowa that you can get quality seafood from. They always have a chefs specialty menu which is usually what I order from. The environment is always happening and the bartenders and servers are always attentive. Splash is another location is Des Moines that has good seafood that I believe is just a local restaurant.

Excellent experience! Bonefish has always been my favorite restaurant when I was in Atlanta and this location did not disappoint me, Everything was wonderful . The bread was served with really fresh pesto olive oil. The calamari and fish tacos were delicious. I hint my server it was my friends birthday and they brought her a birthday plate with chocolate covered strawberries and she was surprised. We were dining in on a Friday night and they were packed but our server still check on us several times and refilled our drinks. Thank you Bonefish !

A little overpriced. The food was great. I got the pork chop, and it was easily the juiciest chop I've ever had...and very flavorful. Service was fantastic.

The bang-bang tacos were very good and I'd recommend adding chopped avocado. Only issue is they need a more sturdy taco shell. Mine fell apart a few bites in on each causing me to discard the tortillas and use a fork.

Fantastic service. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and offered great recommendations. He was also very attentive to our drinks and was quick to clear the empty plates. The fried calamari was paired with a great sauce and the Chilean sea bass was a good entrée. Overall, it was very good meal and would recommend.

CRAB CAKES!! LOCATION/ENVIROMENT: GOOD: The location could be better as far as trying to find this place but that probably just applies to me because I'm not form this area. elegant and yet casual at the same time bonefish somehow nails it down. The lighting and the setup is very nice. everything appears clean and neat. SERVICE: Excellent: When I first walked in I was greeted by a group of about 5 people, two of them said welcome and then everyone just started at me... It was a little awkward. :) the hostess then escorted me to my table and then my waitress who was fantastic came and assisted me with my order. she was knowledgeable about the food on the menu and was quick with recommendations to suit my request... the plus was my thirst never came into play she always had a fresh drink for me as I ran low. FOOD: GOOD: All I can say is CRAB CAKES ARE A MUST! I have had them before in PA and ever since then me and my wife always talk about them. I really came just for the crab cakes and I was not disappointed. They have a nice kick to them and the sauce they serve them with should be bottled and sold... Now before you judge me and say WTF? It is a seafood joint! let me say I agree. so take note the burger did not affect my rating. Ok now for the embarrassing part.... I had a burger as my main meal *looks away in shame*. BUT that being said it was okay the burger patty was not hand formed but the flavor was still good. overall it was just an average decent tasting burger... Next time I will just stick to a double order or crab cakes. Advice: 1. As awesome as the crab cakes are they are pretty pricey for an appetizer and in fact they cost more than my burger did. 2. I would have went with a crab cake meal but I could not bring myself to pay 5 bucks to add veggies to my order of two cakes.... maybe a third cake or even make the two cakes bigger would have been enough to get me to swing this route.

It has been a few years since I visited Bonefish Grille and after last night, I don't plan to ever return. It is unfortunate because the food is really good. I stopped by a friend's birthday dinner and planned to have a couple of their famous happy hour appetizers before I had to leave early. I ordered before anyone else was ready and I told the waiter (1 of 3 assigned to our table) that I needed to leave very soon but he still did not put my order in for another 15 minutes. I then explained to him that he should make my food to go as I likely wouldn't have time to eat there. After another 15 minutes, I told him to give me the check so I could pay now. When my food arrived, I received two orders of tacos. I informed him that I had ordered the Bang Chicken and the Bang Bang Tacos. He told me that the Bang Chicken is actually an order of tacos with chicken inside. As I don't frequent the restaurant, I accepted that even though I was confused as the menu doesn't clearly state this. Later in the evening, I talked to one of my good friends who stayed later than I did. She said that he experience was very frustrating. She had ordered the Bang Chicken also and she received a bowl full of fried, seasoned chicken pieces. So, one of our orders had to have been wrong because I got chicken tacos and she just got chicken. When she received her bill, she noticed it was missing one of her appetizers. She waited about 20 minutes for the waitress to return and informed her of the error. After another 20 minutes, my friend saw the waitress again and asked for her corrected bill. The waitress said that the manager hadn't made the adjustment yet. My friend said she offered cash for the missing appetizer so they didn't have to worry about making the adjustment. After another 10 minutes and my friend walking back to the kitchen area, the manager gave her the cash and credit card back. So for being honest about her bill, she had to wait almost an hour and the manager didn't even apologize for the wait. Many of the other diners shared similar disappointing experiences. Overall, the service here is in need of serious improvement because it is a shame for a place with such good food to suffer due to slow and unattentive servers.

Headed out to West Des Moines with my fiance looking for a good dinner that wouldn't break our wallets. Did a search for restaursants near me on my Yelp iPhone app and BoneFish happened to be RIGHT next to us at the time so we decided to give it a try. Atmosphere is very classy, simple and refined without being overly formal - we felt comfortable eating there in everyday clothes. We were seated right away by a very friendly hostess and our server was excellent, even taking time to giver her recommendations on the multitude of menu options available. The restaurant has an extensive wine list, and a great selection of specialty martinis and cocktails. The menu also offers a variety of choices (provided you like seafood of course). I ordered a New Castle Ale (reminded me of my childhood in South Africa for some weird reason) and the server poured it into a glass for me which in itself isn't very amazing or rare, but it speaks to the atmosphere and service at this restaurant. My fiance ordered two martinis based on the recommendation of our server (the Mango martini donates a dollar to protecting the oceans) and both martinis were delicious and well made. We started out with the edammame appetizer which was a bit difficult to eat at first since you have to shell the beans yourself, but it was fun and delicious once we got the hang of it. The bread and pesto olive oil that comes standard was also amazing - the bread was very fresh. Our entrées were well cooked and the presentation was great. We were both very satisfied with the portion size and taste. This restaurant is a bit pricier than some - especially with the addition of alcoholic beverages (three martinis and an imported beer), but it is well worth it and we will DEFINITELY be eating here again. Highly recommended.

I often eat at this chain. It typically presents a nice level of fish and accompaniments for a fair price. PLUS it has a gluten free menu, and being a celiac, I like this. They are affiliated with Outback Steakhouse, which in turn has a gluten free menu. This at least means they are paying attention to it. This is probably one of the poorest Bonefish Grilles I have dined at. My rundown ( no pun ), Caesar salad pathetically small, with WAY too much parmesan cheese dumped on it. Maybe a distraction from the lack of romaine? The chilean sea bass was seconds behind the caesar; I just don't eat that fast. My dog does not eat that fast. Large cut bass was smallest I have ever been served. And yes, I was charged for the large cut. Maybe a little extra profit goes a long way here. And the rice had a funny flavor, which when made mention of to the server was shrugged off. Similarly was the last glass of wine being half full as the open bottle ran dry. Apparently opening a new bottle to finish the pour was not an option. Come on guys, you've proven yourself to be better than this. Too bad your servers aren't aware of this notable distinction. You are known via those who represent you...

Love this place. In a town that piles cholesteral on top of their bacon/cheese apps this is a breath of fresh air. Servers and Bartenders are real people - you will fee at home. Good wine/beer selection.

I went with a couple coworkers. One of them had tried it when he was in Colorado and liked it a lot. We first started off with two appetizers. We tried their flash fried calamari and slightly seared tuna sashimi. The calamari was excellent. The accompanying sauce was a little on the sweet side, but it went well with the calamari. The tuna was amazing! They had it listed as one of their entrees and I was tempted to get the tuna just because I liked the appetizer. Instead, I chose the grouper with garlic mashed potatoes as a side. It also came with a salad, but I skipped on it. After we put our order in, the waitress came out with fresh bread and olive oil for dipping. The olive oil had some seasonings mixed in and it made it fabulous. The grouper was well done and flavorful. You get to choose an accompanying sauce. I chose lemon butter and requested it on the side. One of my coworkers requested to try all the sauces. I tried the chimchurri, asian style sauce, and mango salsa. I think the chimchurri was my favorite. For being a seafood chain, it was pretty good. The price compares to a Red Lobster, but less breaded seafood. I would definitely go again!

Fish tacos in W DSM...suprisingly delicious! Bang, bang shrimp & calamari were pretty decent...but those fish tacos were about as good as I can get in CALI or HI. Enjoyed some cocktails and found they had a decent wine list as well.

Highly recommended for the area. It's in a large outdoor mall complex that is brand new. I sat at the bar, had an 11oz sirloin, mashed potatoes and house salad. All for under 20 dollars. Terrible draft beer selection. Great wine selection. Great place. ****NO WIFI

I think this might be one of my favorite chains. The food and service are always great. I know the major complaint from a lot of people is that the sauces over the seafood dishes are too strong. Personally, I love the sauce, but if you're trying it for the first time, it may be worth getting it on the side to control the amounts that suit your taste. I'm going with the crowd to say that I love their Bang Bang shrimp! We went on a Wednesday when it is $5. We each ordered some and added a small side salad to make it a meal. Since we were there before 6:30, it was also half off glasses of wine. So for under $30, two of us had a generous portion of Bang Bang shrimp, a nice sized salad, fresh bread with dipping oil, and a glass of wine. You really can't beat that!

Went here on New Year's Eve while on a trip to Iowa. Four of us each had a different kind of fish. All four meals were perfect. Waiter (Nick) was awesome. Manager (Marcus) came by to check on us. Highly recommend this place for a great meal!!

I thought I knew what I was coming for but totally impressed by the NEW menu! I love BoneFish and have been to my fair share and give this location two thumbs up! The new menu is really worth trying out as it tastes wonderful and selections are huge. What I loved: The Cold Snap Cucumber Cosmo served in a frozen glass made entirely of ice, Bang Bang Shrimp Flatbread, Twisted Edamame Hummus, Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad and finally the New S'mores Flatbread. Make a reservation if you are going on a Friday or Saturday - this location is quite popular!

Weekend afternoon bartender a 9! Good personality and appropriately flirty. I had a non dirty martini and it was well made. Bang Bang shrimp tacos were fantastic! I would stop back just for them. Right mix of healthy fresh ingredients with the wow of the shrimp. Great place for a quick lunch before hitting Jordan Creek for shopping. Definitely on the schedule for future lunch dates. Only drawback was group of servers around the hostess station gossiping. It was uncomfortable to walk through on my way to the bar. Everything else 5 stars!

Go for bang bang shrimp night! Such a great deal and even my non-shrimp loving friends love it. Make sure you ask for the bread - it's complimentary, but they only bring it out if you ask.

We have given this location 5 tries. It's time to give up on it. Every single time we've had a problem with the food not being prepared as requested. Our server would have to be flagged down and the repaired food returned after others were finished. There is no offer to make it right or take anything off for our wait. I don't even mind paying for food I've eaten, but at least offer to comp. a wine to let a customer know you care. An issue every single time shows that wait and cook staff are poorly trained. We love the Bonefish in Cape Coral, FL, so it's not a company problem, it's WDM's problem. We won't be back.

Nothing special here. Service is ok, kind of hit or miss. I have pretty much never had a decent entree here, but the Apps are delicious. Do your self a favor and sit in the bar area and order tons of martinis and the Bang Bang shrimp. I tell ya, that Bang Bang shrimp is super tasty. If that was all they had on the menu, I would give them 5 stars. Unfortunately, someone decided that the Bang Bang shrimp wasn't good enough by itself and they added all these pesky entrees and apps to the menu. Maybe they will learn....

This is a great spot for fish and seafood. Love their BangBang Shrimp and wolf fish. Last trip I had chicken marsala. They give great portion size and the waiters and waitresses are very good also.

After reading in the Datebook Diner some time ago about how great their fish & chips were (as they used Mahi-Mahi) I couldn't wait to try it. When our server came to the table, I asked if this was still the case (using Mahi-Mahi), and he said "no, it is tilapia". I then asked if they would substitute the Mahi-Mahi for me, and I would pay extra. He said "no, it's already breaded". That should have been a sign for me to order something else, but my husband and I both decided to give it a try. In three words: It was awful. The breading was as thick as the breading on a corn dog, greasy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Thankfully, once I removed all the breading, the fish inside was pretty good. The other seafood restaurant in town puts this fish and chips to shame. When we were half through with our fish, we noticed all the other tables around us ordering and getting all the same thing, so I asked another server what it was. She said Bang Bang Shrimp, which is their specialty appetizer, and one day a week it is only $5.00 My husband said since our fish wasn't the greatest, we'd order one to try between us -- in three words: very, very good. Another note, our server did not bother to tell us they had complimentary bread to start with, so (if we would happen to go back), it would be for the bread, the Bang Bang Shrimp, and a cold beer, making it a perfect early light dinner.

I visited this restaurant for the first time (Mar-09) and tried their their appetizer "Bang Bang Shrimp." I am not a big fan of seafood, but this one was simply to die for. Shrimp never tasted so good at least for me.
